FOCUS
The focus of the
Willy –Esther Foundation is to improve the standard
of
education in the institutions of higher learning in Nigeria
that have been underfunded for a long time; to help some
Nigerians further their education through scholarships to
control HIV/AIDS in Nigeria with special emphasis on rural
areas of Imo State; to help in the socio-economic
development of Awaka Town, Imo State.
IMPACT
The Library holdings
of the various institutions increased enormously and the
students can now find and use books, journals and magazines
that help to enhance their knowledge in their respective
chosen fields of learning. The books and educational
materials shipped to Imo State University helped Imo State
University to get accreditation in several of the academic
programs. They have also contributed much to quality
education and the “education industry” in Imo State , and
Nigeria as a whole. Awaka town has no nearby stream or
river from where to draw drinking water. The water provided
by government is very irregular. Some taps or pumps may
remain dry for several weeks and people are forced to go
somewhere to fetch of buy drinking water. The borehole sunk
is now providing much needed water and at no cost to the
town’s people. The Business Center established is
rendering much needed service to the Awaka people and has
reduced the necessity to travel to Owerri for the services
being provided. Also it contributes to, and improves the
socio-economic condition of Awaka Town .
The money donated to
various churches has alleviated the financial problems they
have been having in completing their church buildings or
improving them.
The civic center
when completed will have a tremendous impact on the Awaka
Community and surrounding areas and will go a long way to
controlling HIV/AIDS.
